Tonight, rather than spend my money on crab claws or lobster tails or vanilla beans or porterhouse steaks, I’ll be donating the average amount of a Smackdown to Haitian earthquake relief, and I’ll add another dollar for everyone who comments on this post before Saturday at noon EST.
If you did the same on your blog – whatever you can afford, a dollar per comment, a quarter per comment, a dime per comment – we could really shake some shit up.

Great idea. If you haven’t decided on a charity yet, might I recommend World Vision? They have great resources across the world and are in great position to get aid out quickly to those in need. Plus, they’ve been in Haiti for 30 years and have a solid relationship with the people. We sponsor a little boy in Haiti through them, and we couldn’t be happier with how they manage our donation.

Please pray for a dear friend of mine who just return from Haiti (jusst days before the earthquake, she made it home safe): Here is a specific family to pray for, as well as praying for the entire community: (from martha) Spoke to the Pastor we serve in Haiti. Although he was far enough from the quake not to be hurt, he was very affected. This morning he received a call that this father, 2 sisters, and 1 brother were killed. He is heading to Port Au Prince to try to save his brother who is severely injured. Please pray for safe travel and for him to arrive in time.

Nobody reads my blog, but I actually WORK at a website that helps nonprofits raise money online, and it’s been amazing to watch the support just explode. Not just more people making fundraising pages for Haiti relief, but the amounts donated are amazing. Doctors Without Borders actually MAXED OUT their Haiti coffers and asked us to stop letting people make new pages for them.
It’s amazing to see the outpouring of help and efforts like this all over the place. I like people.
